  •  Pitched winning idea for mod

  •  Divvied up work so that each team member had an area they were responsible for

  •  Oversaw all my other teammates and made sure their designs were consistent with the overall idea

  •  Helped teammates with areas of the creation kit they had trouble with (lighting, nav mesh etc.)

  •  Compiled all my teammates levels into one world space

Description: Power armor utopia is a mod for Fallout 4 in which You play as a talented, up and coming mechanic who is fascinated by power armor. In your spare time you’ve even built yourself a personalized set of power armor. You have now saved enough money to travel to the Power Armor utopia – “Rüstung” A city build around the love for power armor. Master mechanics and engineers inhabit this city and craft beautiful and deadly suits of armor for all walks of life. You hope to pick up some new and rare parts/supplies to create your dream armor and also to learn from all the expert mechanics there. Unbeknownst to our protagonist, tensions boil between the leaders of Rüstung and a nearby group of radiation-loving fanatics who hope to claim the town for themselves. During the adventure, the protagonist will hear compelling arguments from both sides and will have to choose which group to support.

 

This mod was created for a level design class in which each class member had to propose an idea for a Fallout 4 mod and the one which got the most votes got made. My idea ended up winning so I became the team lead for the group. Along with learning how to use the creation kit, I got experience with leading a large group of people on a single project. I needed to change up my idea to accommodate enough work for the entire class. The mod consists of 3 major areas. The power armor city of Rüstung, the Children of Atom territory which is made up of an old pre-war military base, and a destroyed town with a train station that separates the other two areas. I divided up work by giving each teammate a building/area to make. For example, in the power armor city, there is an arena, doctors building, restaurant, security station, power armor vendors etc. So, one teammate was given the doctors building and another the security station and so on. Each member was reasonable for the exterior of their area as well as the interior of their area. I made it a choice whether you’d have to load into an interior space or not. Since there we so many people working on different areas, my main job was to keep everything as consistent as possible. For example, since the Children of Atom area is a pre-war military base, the pre-war buildings all needed to be made of concrete and brick. So, I made sure no one working in that area was using wood to construct their buildings. In addition to that, the area I worked on the most was the power armor arena. This is a place where people can put their power armor to the test in combat against other power armors. Part of the arena interior is a museum dedicated to showing off different power armors/power armor accessories.

 

After everyone’s levels were completed, it was my responsibility to merge all those different levels into a single .esp.
